The Director, Human Resources Operations, in collaboration with the CHRO, is responsible for administering and implementing ASHP’s payroll, benefit programs, and policies, and communicating those programs.  This role ensures compliance with local, state, and federal policies and regulations.  Visit ASHP Human Resources Team to meet ASHP's Chief Human Resources Officer and to learn more our HR Team!

 

This is a hybrid position that requires candidates to live in the Washington, DC area.  Effective March 2027, ASHP is transitioning to a hybrid work model, which will require employees to work in our office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.  Successful candidates for this position must meet these requirements. At ASHP, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach.  The base salary for this position is $130,000-$147,500 and ASHP offers a comprehensive benefits plan.  This salary range represents a reasonable estimate of the annual salary based on ASHP’s commitment to provide equitable and market-competitive pay. The actual salary offered will take into consideration many factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge, educational background and licenses/certifications, skills and experience, internal pay equity, and other business and organizational needs. What You'll Be Doing

  • Oversees payroll processing and manages annual payroll and workers' compensation audits.
  • Manages benefit administration, including enrollments, changes, and terminations through Employee Navigator, vendor sites, and internal databases. Resolves claims, reconciles and processes invoices, and keeps records accurate.
  • Counsels employees and dependents on health and welfare plans, issues benefit communications and serves as liaison with insurance carriers.
  • Manages retirement plan, including annual audit, Form 5500 filings, and the annual ASHP Retirement Plan contribution, meeting all deadlines.
  • Administers performance reviews and the annual bonus calculation, and guides supervisors through the process.
  • Manages the Transportation Benefit program and HR offsite records storage
  • Supervises HR Generalist and their activities.
  • Develops goals and objectives for the Office in conjunction with the CHRO. Fosters efficiencies in processes and procedures throughout all Human Resources operations.
  • Partners with the CHRO to set office goals, improve HR processes, flag potential problems, and recommend solutions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You Bring to ASHP

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Human Resources or Business Administration.
  • Five years of payroll experience.
  • Five years of benefits administration experience, preferably in an association environment.
  • Three years of experience as a Human Resource Manager
  • High regard for confidentiality of information.
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff in a professional and customer-focused manner.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and oral presentation skills. Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines; good attention to detail.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience with major payroll vendors.
